Pharmacist Manager manages a group of pharmacists who, under the direction of a physician, compound and dispense prescribed drugs in a retail or healthcare facility environment. Oversees daily pharmacy operations. Being a Pharmacist Manager monitors and audits drug inventory, ensures compliance with all regulatory guidelines and reporting. Requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy or a Pharm.D. Additionally, Pharmacist Manager requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Pharmacist Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Primary Function and Relationship to Total Organization: Works to perform function of Pharmacy, kinetic dosing, drug information, medication distribution, patient/staff teaching, and other duties as directed by the pharmacy manager. Works with other pharmacy department members to continually improve all aspects of department functions and participates in activities that assist in improving our community’s health. This position must work within confines of applicable state and federal regulations.

Work environment: Works primarily within Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Areas worked include, but are not limited to: pharmacy, patient care areas, storage areas. Normal work environment within the hospital is clean, temperature controlled, organized.
Employment variables/approximate hours*/misc. information: May require travel. Must be willing to respond to phone calls/other messages if necessary, outside of normal work hours. Must be willing and able to learn and maintain competencies on variety of equipment used to prepare, package, verify, and store all types of medications.
