POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical services to the patients of Community Medical Centers, Inc.  The Pharmacist reports to the Pharmacist-In-Charge.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Under the direction of the Pharmacist-In-Charge will provide pharmaceutical services to Community Medical Centers, Inc. patients
• Order, inventory, and dispense pharmaceutical items for Community Medical Center, Inc. patients
• Assist in the implementation of a quality assurance program
• Maintain patient profile records, billing data, and other records as required
• Provide continuing education to clinic staff and provide patient education as required
• Maintain effective communication with CMC administration to assure coordination of pharmacy services with other program components
• Train and monitor department staff compliance with OSHA and safety policies
• Assist in the recruitment, hiring, retention and evaluation of job performance of department staff in compliance with personnel policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensed as a Pharmacist by the State Board of Pharmacy in California
• Possession of a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
• Preference will be given to individuals with the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish; written and verbal
• Valid California driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and personal transportation

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:    

• Pharmacology principles, practices, and regulations
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical agents, dangerous drugs, and devices. Ability to recognize and advise clinicians of potential problems
• Knowledge of the principles, practices of development and training to conduct in-service programs
• Skill in preparing records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence
• Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
• Skill in exercising initiative and judgment
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with medical staff and clinic management staff
• Ability to interpret, adapt and apply written guidelines
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and indigent care (PIC) programs
• Ability to communicate clearly

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to read and note appropriate measurements.  Ability to work irregular hours. 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
