Pharmacist - Retail reviews prescriptions and compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs according to regulatory requirements and guidelines in a retail environment. Responds to customers questions about medications and advises about drug safety and potential interactions. Being a Pharmacist - Retail manages the transfer of prescriptions, incoming physician calls, and drug utilization review. Ensures that pharmacy's patient and financial records are correctly input and maintained. Additionally, Pharmacist - Retail requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires registered pharmacist(RPh). Requires pharmacy practice. Pharmacist - Retail's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. CHMC – Pharmacist– Per Diem- Day Shift- 7:30a-4– Requisition 7301
The pharmacist provides patients with responsible drug therapy for the purpose of achieving improved patient outcomes. This is accomplished by the timely, safe, and efficient compounding and distribution or medications, monitoring, and clinical assessment of prescribed drug therapies for safety and effectiveness, consulting with healthcare team to optimize patients’ drug therapies and utilization of hospital resources and participating in direct patient teaching and discharge counseling. Must have reliable transportation and may be required to float to other facilities as needed. These elements are not all inclusive.
Qualifications: Current NYS License in Pharmacy. Must maintain current BLS Certification. Valid NYS Driver’s license. Must be knowledgeable in the specialized functions of a hospital pharmacy. Must have good oral and written communication skills, computer skills, and ability to make independent and joint decisions.
