Responsibilities:

To plan, organize, develop, and direct the facility’s Pharmaceutical Services in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern VA facilities to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to residents at all times.

Training & Personal Development

• Maintains current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing.
• Obtains necessary certifications, education credits and training, including learning modules, as required by company.

People and Performance

• Responsible for hiring and training new staff members.
• Promote teamwork within the pharmacy to promote a positive culture.
• Work alongside the Administrator and the Director of Nursing in the facility to ensure compliance with pharmaceutical services.

Key Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor of Science degree from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.
• Must be currently licensed or eligible for licensing in the state where facility is located.
• Must have a current Alabama consulting certificate or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Must have, as a minimum, two years hospital and/or clinical experience and at least one year of management experience.
• Must have MTM management experience.

About the pharmacy

This is an institutionalized pharmacy located inside a newly constructed Command Sergeant Major Bennie G Atkins State Veterans Home in Enterprise, AL. The facility is designated as a licensed nursing home and will have 174 residents once fully occupied. The pharmacy will only be dispensing to residents who reside inside the State Veterans Home, and there are no walk-in or mail order prescriptions. The Director of Pharmacy’s primary role will be to oversee the preparation and delivery of all prescriptions and to provide monthly medication reconciliation reviews for all the residents in the building.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $110,000.00 per year

Education:

• Bachelor's (Required)

Experience:

• Pharmacy Management: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Licensed Pharmacist (Required)
• Alabama Consultant Pharmacist Certification (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

• Enterprise, AL: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
