Pharmacy Director jobs in Lake Charles, LA
Pharmacy Director directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital or healthcare facility's pharmacy services. Maintains contact with other department heads, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy. Being a Pharmacy Director requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Typically requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Additionally, Pharmacy Director typically reports to a top management. The Pharmacy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Pharmacy Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Ensure that all pharmacy staff is currently licensed/certified/registered and complies with all applicable regulations, policies and standards of the hospital and PharmaCare Services.
Develops rapport with hospital staff and provides timely information relative to drugs, policies and standards of care that relate to medication use/safety.
Keep current with State regulations regarding the practice of Pharmacy and implements changes as necessary to maintain compliance.
Requirements
- Hospital pharmacy experience (preferred)
- Sterile Compounding experience
- Louisiana State Board Pharmacist License
- Good computer skills and experience with pharmacy software
- Self-motivating and proven leadership ability
