Pharmacy Director directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital or healthcare facility's pharmacy services. Maintains contact with other department heads, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy. Being a Pharmacy Director requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Typically requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Additionally, Pharmacy Director typically reports to a top management. The Pharmacy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Pharmacy Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • As Senior Director of Patient Access, you are responsible for leading patient access and overseeing pharmacy personnel.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Drive the strategic implementation of the company’s patient access support policies, programs and optimize patient access to Company products, and accelerate time to treatment.

    Oversee a team that develops designs, and implements Reimbursement, Financial assistance, and Product Programs to support Brand access objectives.

    Assist with determining appropriate program innovations based on analysis and communicate recommendations effectively to the executive team.

    Act as the main interface and coordinate cross-functionally with senior management.

    Ensure timely and appropriate program communication about program performance, updates, and changes with the executive team.

    Oversee training and education on payer-specific coverage policies and documentation requirements, appeals process for specific payers, and patient financial assistance support programs, Including Company copay assistance programs and patient assistance programs.

    Establish, and continuously monitor patient enrollment, onboarding, and continuation of therapies to ensure high satisfaction of patient experience and service levels.

    Define Hub/PSP vendor services requirements and engagement and participate in Hub/PSP vendor Business reviews.

    Manage the department’s budget.

    Manage business relationships and business partners, internally and externally, on transactional and strategic issues.

    Liaise directly with various outside groups, including current or prospective vendors.

    Collaborate with and communicate regularly to the executive team the opportunities and challenges related to patient access issues.

    Employs qualified personnel and ensure adequate training, education, and evaluation.

    Increase efficiency of employees for various growth-oriented programs

    Provide and maintain efficient backup to supply the department and ensure the achievement of all internal and external needs.

    Analyze and identify all performance-related issues and ensure appropriate steps are taken to prevent loss.

    Expected Professional Competencies

    Ability to lead others toward meeting Polaris Specialty Pharmacy’s vision, mission, and goals.

    Manages performance by communicating performance standards and expectations.

    Uses two-way communication to facilitate an atmosphere receptive to open exchange.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s Degree or five years of Experience

    Advanced working knowledge of patient support programs, including reimbursement support, financial assistance, and adherence programs.

    Prior Authorization Certified Specialist (PACS) or similar Prior Authorization certification is preferred.

    Successful track record of managing external vendors.

    In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturer compliance requirements, HIPAA regulations

    Experience navigating sensitive patient issues such as expanded access requests or financial concerns, as well as the skills to address emerging issues immediately.

    Advanced understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, pharmacy benefit managers, and government payers, and their impact on product access.

    Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional team success. Proven ability to build productive relationships and teams internally and externally.

    Strong leadership and organizational skills. Demonstrated project and people management capabilities.
