Pharmacy Director directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital or healthcare facility's pharmacy services. Maintains contact with other department heads, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy. Being a Pharmacy Director requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Typically requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Additionally, Pharmacy Director typically reports to a top management. The Pharmacy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Pharmacy Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • CSI Pharmacy is hiring a Pharmacy Manager to join our dynamic team. CSI Pharmacy is a nationwide specialty pharmacy, founded by pharmacists and dedicated to providing services for patients with chronic and rare illnesses that require complex care. This role will be based out of our Tampa, FL location.

    The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for daily pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, program planning, management, maximization of resources, and oversight of quality improvement for the pharmacy. Oversees pharmacy operational training, coaching, and providing performance feedback and recognition to pharmacy employees. Supervises departmental work activities, staffing, and scheduling to achieve business objectives.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervises pharmacy staff including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and warehouse personnel.

    • Directs, coordinates, and supervises all pharmacy activities including drug preparation, sterile products preparation (if applicable), dispensing and clinical pharmacy services.

    • Works with multiple departments to facilitate and coordinate pharmacy operations.

    • Participates/assists personnel in the procurement of drugs, supplies and equipment used in preparing and administering drugs.

    • Performs duties of the clinical pharmacist as necessary.

    • Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapies provided by CSI Pharmacy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars, and conferences.

    • Performs marketing support as requested.

    • Coordinates department QA activities for pharmacy.

    • Participates in recruitment and hiring of potential new pharmacy operations personnel.

    • Assists in the preparation and implementation of operational pharmacy staff competencies.

    • Performs performance reviews, at least annually, on pharmacy personnel.

    • Participates/coordinates orientation and training of pharmacy, operations, and other organizational employees.

    • Participates in branch management and inter-departmental meetings as required.

    • Coordinates/participates in departmental meetings as scheduled.

    • Prepares and submits management reports as required.

    • Participates in development of the branch budget for pharmacy operations.

    • Guides pharmacy toward achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual projections based on financial and management objectives.

    • Follows established channels of authority and communications throughout the organization.

    • Maintains on-call schedule for pharmacists and covers as needed.

    • Performs special tasks or projects as requested.

    • Helps to develop, update, an implement policies and procedures establishing safe practices for infusion therapy handling in the pharmacy, during transport, at the suite, and in the patient’s home.

    • Helps to develop, update, and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services

    • Obtains pharmacist licenses in other states requiring pharmacist licensure for the facility to be licensed as a pharmacy as requested

    • Provides oversight/guidance of clinical decision-making, clinical operations, and technical expertise on aspects of program including those that pertain to URAC/ACHC accreditation and Board of pharmacy requirements

    • Provides periodic consultation with practitioners in the field, as needed.

    • Assists in identifying and helping resolve recurring issues impacting team key metrics

    • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of leadership within the framework of planning, directing, coordinating, and providing/improving the delivery of service to customers

    • Serves as the PIC for the pharmacy and demonstrates thorough knowledge of all regulations and laws that apply to drug distribution

    • Assesses pharmacy’s compliance with operational regulatory requirements and assists in preparation for inspections as needed.

    • Analyzes and evaluates pharmacy expense trends. Assists with development of a strategy to reduce pharmacy expenses and implements strategy/plan.

    • Provides guidance to facility as it relates to implementation of corporate and division operational projects.

    • Assists in the assessment and optimization of pharmacy workflows to optimize pharmacy resources and operational efficiencies.

    • Responsible to assist in the auditing of company-wide narcotic diversion prevention practices as applicable.

    • Works with all departments to process urgent or high touch prescriptions in the facility through all stages of the specialty process completing steps by self if trained in that function.

    • Assigns and monitors workload and assists with scheduling as needed to ensure optimal coverage.

    • Works collaboratively with team members to ensure that best practices are shared

    • Serves as a point of escalation for issues requiring a higher degree of expertise or discretion to resolve customer issues and ensure timely resolution

    • Identifies repetitive problems or issues and recommend process improvements

    • Provides high quality services to the home-care patient and the home-care referral source.

    • Consistently represents the company in a professional manner.

    Qualification Requirements

    Education and/or Experience

    • R.Ph. or Doctor of Pharmacy

    • Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state in which the facility is located

    • Qualifications to perform clinical oversight for the services provided

    • At least 3-year pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy experience in specialty/home infusion therapy
