Pharmacy Director directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital or healthcare facility's pharmacy services. Maintains contact with other department heads, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy. Being a Pharmacy Director requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Typically requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Additionally, Pharmacy Director typically reports to a top management. The Pharmacy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. - Receive new written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
-Interpret and enter physicians' orders into the computer order system and do the appropriate billing to the health insurance provided by the patient.
-Establish accurate patient profiles.
-Answer patients' phone calls and respond to their requests.
-Maintain up to date pharmacy inventory , check for out dates and returns to reverse distributor.
-fill bottles and vials with prescribed medications , type and affix labels.
-Perform drug calculations for proper billing.
-clean and help to maintain equipment or work areas according to prescribed methods.
-Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
-Comply with all laws, federal , state regulations and standards of ethical conduct.
-California state pharmacy technician license , in good standing with California state board of pharmacy.
-bilingual, English and Spanish speaker.
-Ability to complete background check and drug screenings.
-2 years or more of pharmacy retail Experience.
