The Management Information Systems (MIS) Technician provides general support and assistance to the MIS Manager and the MIS Administrator in the provision of information systems support to the organization. Duties include general programming, report generation, and hardware maintenance for PC's, printers and computer network infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the organizations desktops, printers, and related IT hardware.
- Responsible for network maintenance under the direction of the MIS Manager.
- Responsible for performing software maintenance and updates as needed.
- Attends and participates in regular departmental and organizational meetings, conferences, workshops, etc.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all necessary logs and records required to ensure effective departmental operations.
- Assists with training staff on application software and the operation of computer equipment.
- Assists with the preparation and data compilation for audits, reports, presentations, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Work Experience
Two years technical support experience with information systems with an emphasis in hardware maintenance and Windows operating systems in a network environment. Experience in computer programming preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
Valid Texas vehicle operator's license.
Skills
- Working knowledge of the principles of computer information and decision systems.
- Knowledge of computer operating systems (Windows 10, 11 etc.), and PC hardware.
- Knowledge of basic network components, protocols and troubleshooting.
- Ability to assist with the development and implementation of computer hardware and software applications in service and training.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to exercise judgment in unusual or stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Bilingual English/Spanish

Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Required Education
Education
Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field. Two years additional paid experience and successful completion of sixty (60) credited undergraduate semester hours may be substituted for the required education as listed below.Educational training and background should include emphasis in Windows operating systems and MS Office.
