Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining patient records, and providing excellent customer service.
Duties:
- Prepare medications by counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and mixing pharmaceuticals
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs
- Ensure medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments
- Assist pharmacists in labeling and packaging prescriptions
- Provide information to patients and healthcare professionals about medications
- Help health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist
Skills:
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Knowledge of aseptic technique for medication preparation
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures
- Strong patient care skills
- Experience working in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting
- Ability to handle inhalers, critical care medications, IV infusions
