Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Summary: Pharmacy Technician that will process and fill prescriptions. You will undertake other tasks under the direction of a pharmacist to provide excellent customer service and ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly. As a pharmacy technician you must be detail-oriented and reliable since the job has high responsibility. You must possess excellent communication skills as well as aptitude in using computers.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing of medications, supplies and provision of pharmaceutical care, etc.
- Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate
- Prior authorization
- Resolve issues when they arise (e.g. rejected insurance claims)
- Sort, stock, label medication and monitor inventory
- Undertake administrative tasks (e.g.record-keeping) as assigned
- Comply with all security measures and quality standards
Skills
- Proven experience as pharmacy technician (preferred)
- Experience with PioneerRX is a plus
- Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement (preferred)
- Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology (preferred)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Reliable with a keen eye for detail
- Successful completion of a pharmacy technician program (preferred)
- Certified Pharmacy technician is an asset (preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
