Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. ```Duties``` - Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications and providing patient care - Prepare and package medications for distribution - Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed - Enter prescription information into the computer system accurately - Answer phone calls and assist customers with inquiries - Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area ```Skills``` - Hospital experience preferred, but not required - Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with acute care and critical care settings - Certification as a pharmacy technician is highly desirable - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation - Excellent customer service skills to provide patient support and answer questions - Familiarity with aseptic technique for sterile compounding - Ability to assist with patient care activities, including IV infusion and inhalation therapies Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
