Pharmacy Technician Supervisor oversees the work of a team of Pharmacy Technicians that assist Pharmacists with the dispensing of medical prescriptions. Monitors daily activities and manages work schedules to ensure that quality, production and customer service standards are maintained. Being a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may hire, train, and evaluate new employees. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.     Job Responsibilities

    • Provide the highest level of customer service in all forms of contact, including transactions, responding to inquiries, requests or referring to the pharmacist for medical information
    • Accept written prescriptions or refill requests from patients; evaluate information for completeness and accuracy
    • Record medical histories while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
    • Perform sales transactions at the cash register
    • Must be able to prioritize and adjust in a dynamic environment
    • Verify patient information for accuracy
    • Count and fill prescription medication; type and attach correct medication labels
    • Perform inventory audits and purchase supplies
    • Process patient insurance
    • Deliver medications to facilities using the company vehicle
    • Maintain open and ongoing communication with team members and community partners

    Skills and Qualifications

    • A high school diploma or equivalent
    • Current pharmacy technician license from the State of Alaska; must apply at https://www.commerce.alaska.gov/web/cbpl/ProfessionalLicensing/BoardofPharmacy/ApplicationsForms.aspx
    • An original copy of the license must be presented at the time of hiring - copies are not accepted
    • Strong customer service experience
    • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
    • Experience in a fast-paced work environment
    • Ability to use a computer for day-to-day tasks
    • Possess basic math skills
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable automobile
    • Proof of current automobile insurance
    • Criminal background check clearance/fingerprint clearance

    Physical Requirements

    Requires regular routine movement, including prolonged standing, walking, reaching, twisting and bending. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Driving may be required for delivery and pick-up purposes. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use appropriate adaptive devices that will enable senses to function at a level required to meet essential duties of this position.


    Working Environment

    Works indoors in a retail pharmacy setting with low-risk exposure. Occasional travel for office related items may be needed.
