Pharmacy Technician Supervisor oversees the work of a team of Pharmacy Technicians that assist Pharmacists with the dispensing of medical prescriptions. Monitors daily activities and manages work schedules to ensure that quality, production and customer service standards are maintained. Being a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may hire, train, and evaluate new employees. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications and preparing sterile products using aseptic technique
- Provide excellent patient service by answering questions and resolving medication-related issues
- Maintain inventory and order supplies in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting
- Prepare and label medications for dispensing
- Perform medication administration duties under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Assist with IV infusion and inhalation therapies
- Enter prescription information into the computer system accurately
- Maintain patient profiles and confidential records
Skills:
- Certified pharmacy technician with knowledge of medical terminology and acute care practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and other pharmacy staff
- Proficient in using pharmacy software systems for prescription processing and inventory management
- Familiarity with different types of medications, dosage forms, and drug interactions
- Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion
