Pharmacy Technician Supervisor oversees the work of a team of Pharmacy Technicians that assist Pharmacists with the dispensing of medical prescriptions. Monitors daily activities and manages work schedules to ensure that quality, production and customer service standards are maintained. Being a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may hire, train, and evaluate new employees. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.     San Luis Valley Health is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Tech to join our team! The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records.

    What You'll Need:

    • High School diploma or equivalent. College courses desired but not required.
    • Pharmacy technician experience, preferred. Certification required within six months of hire. 
    • Health system experience, preferred.
    • IV Compounding experience, preferred.
    • Hazardous medication compounding experience, preferred.
    • Basic computer skills.

    What You'll Do:

    • Fill physicians' orders, medication, surgical kits, medication carts or medication requisitions and specialty items/bins accurately.
    • Comply with all Colorado laws regarding medication dispensing and preparation.
    • Identify and fill replacement medications on emergency crash carts, or cart and floor stock accurately.
    • Prepare sterile products, including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition, accurately and with appropriate aseptic technique.
    • Deliver medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately.
    • Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations.
    • Maintain stock levels, and rotate stock to ensure use before expiration date, and identify and replace  outdated and unusable drugs.
    • Generates reports, pick lists and labels as required.
