Pharmacy Technician Supervisor oversees the work of a team of Pharmacy Technicians that assist Pharmacists with the dispensing of medical prescriptions. Monitors daily activities and manages work schedules to ensure that quality, production and customer service standards are maintained. Being a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may hire, train, and evaluate new employees. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Essential Job Functions (include the following):
• Hire, train, manage, and schedules technicians to ensure adequate coverage for workflow within budgeted labor/Rx while keeping overtime low
• Develop training materials for departments and update as needed
• Evaluate and modify workflow processes and implement changes as necessary to meet deadlines, accuracy and efficiency targets.
• Ensure all medications are complete and accurate prior to scheduled departures with sufficient time for the medications to be prepared for courier delivery.
• Assign and manage work volume appropriate to each technician’s duties, measuring both productivity and accuracy.
• Ensure Fulfillment technicians are fully trained on assigned workflow area and processes within established time period.
• Manage daily automation audits to ensure accurate packaging and filling of medications.
• In coordination with Director of Operations, develop/conduct regularly scheduled performance evaluations. Provide individual feedback for each team members and document performance improvement goals and objectives.
• Assist with quarter-end inventory prep and physical inventory.
• Work as needed on daily functions which may include, but is not limited to, filling, stocking, prepacking and working with automation to ensure smooth workflow and timely deliveries
• Lead by example in all areas of role and supporting the non-negotiable attributes; attitude, dependability, commitment, productivity, efficiency and upholding policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with other supervisors/functional areas to keep work flowing smoothly and efficiently.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the dispensing of prescription medications.
• Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed
Education and/or Certifications:
• High School Diploma or GED, required
• Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements); National Certification preferred (PTCB)
Skills and Qualifications:
• 5 years of related experience (technical knowledge/skills may substitute for experience)
• Advanced proficiency in computer applications related to department operations and job function.
• Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
• Ability to solve problems with minimal direction
• Great attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
• Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire when something appears inaccurate
