Phlebotomist draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood. Being a Phlebotomist may conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Phlebotomist requires Certification by a nationally recognized body. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Phlebotomist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Summary
This temporary position will work for no more than 89 days, Days, and Evening shifts, as scheduled based on department need. Performs phlebotomies on inpatients and outpatients. Drives off-site to perform phlebotomies for area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Operates computerized Laboratory Information System. Handles and ships tissue and fluid samples to reference labs. Prepares and distributes samples to appropriate area. Handles incoming calls from inside and outside the facility.
Requirements: Training/experience as a phlebotomist desirable. Basic typing skills, knowledge of medical terminology and windows based computer usage desirable.
