Gundersen Health System is seeking skilled and dedicated individuals to join our laboratory team as Phlebotomists. No prior experience is needed, we will train on the job!
What You'll Do:
As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare field by collecting blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing. Your attention to detail, knowledge of laboratory procedures, and ability to provide excellent patient care will contribute to the overall success of our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood samples from patients
- Verify patient information and ensure accurate labeling of specimens
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper storage and transportation
- Follow established protocols and safety guidelines to maintain a sterile and safe environment
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition before, during, and after blood collection
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate specimen collection and processing
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed and ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Adhere to quality control procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens and test results
What's Available:
- 64 hours biweekly (0.8 FTE). Variable day shifts scheduled between the hours of 7a-5:30p with Occasional Saturday (7a-11a)
- 40 hours biweekly (0.5 FTE). 8 hour day shifts (5:15a or 5:45a start time) with every other weekend
- 40 hours biweekly (0.5 FTE). 8 hour evening shifts (2p-10:30p) with every other weekend
- Casual On-Call day shift (non-benefit eligible)
What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalency training in a health-related field
- Previous phlebotomy/medical experience preferred, but not required
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for proper specimen labeling and documentation
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
