Phlebotomist draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood. Being a Phlebotomist may conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Phlebotomist requires Certification by a nationally recognized body. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Phlebotomist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Description:
Shift: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM.
Pay: $20.50/hr
This is a temporary assignment that is slated for 6 months with possibility for extension or conversion based on performance and budget.
Serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving blood samples and other specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures.
Verifies test requisitions by checking testing listed in schedule in EMR and bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
Qualifications:
High school diploma.
Experience with phlebotomy.
Experience with EMR system.
