PRODUCTION OPERATOR / FINISHING PRODUCT TECHNICIAN :
GENERAL OVERVIEW AND REPORTING :
The Production Operator / Finished Product Technician is responsible for operating the winder, grading the material, reclaiming all salvageable materials, & re-entering reclaimed materials into production, ensuring that all finished products are packaged & stacked in compliance with the Siplast Packaging Specification, & properly stored in the warehouse.
This position will report to the Production Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Grading :
- Winder operator watches finished product as it comes off the machine, is wound on cores, & moves to the pallet for packaging
- Grade material according to specifications
- Obtain a sample every 100 rolls.
- Contact the Lead QA Tech, or Production Supervisor regarding any questionable products
- Complete winder reports
Packaging :
Properly install the correct product label, roll identification label on each roll of material, & properly stack roll on pallet
Insure that roll printer is working properly
- Package each pallet in accordance with the SIPLAST manufacturing specifications.
- Lubricate bagger & oven chains
- Shut down bagger and oven at end of production runs
- Remove bad & wide spec rolls from conveyor & stack on appropriate pallet.
- Reenter wide spec material according to specifications
- Keep cores, labels, pallets, shrink bags, banding, glue, & paper foil set up as needed
Forklift Operator :
- Remove bagged pallets from the finishing area
- Apply & Scan barcode of pallet
- Place pallet on assigned rack
- Complete daily forklift checklist for oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, water & hydraulic fluid on department forklift & forward to Maintenance Supervisor
- Complete Pallet Count report
Reclaiming :
- Inspect questionable rolls
- Remove substandard material from rolls
- Splice good material together & wind on cores
- Insert reclaimed rolls into pallets per company standards
- Account for all waste material and seconds produced to ensure accurate daily production records
- Complete Reclaiming reports
- Record various product characteristics (roll length and width, selvage width, roll weight, thickness, mat placement, product appearance, etc.
on Q.A. Report for samples cut every 100 rolls.
Misc. :
- Assist the Product Technicians during machine downtime (changeovers, material breaks, sticking, etc.)
- Perform periodic thorough cleaning duties including tanks, sandpit, various machine, & outside areas, etc.
- Keep area clean & orderly.
- Serve on action teams & committees as needed.
- Comply with the SIPLAST Quality System & its provisions.
Safety :
- Comply with all safety regulations & policies
- Utilize all prescribed PPE (personal protective equipment), at all times in designated areas (such as safety glasses, welding hoods, gloves, cutting goggles, respirators, shoes, vests, etc.)
- Observe all safety requirements (such as anti-static, lock out / tag out, hot work permits, forklift seatbelt, etc.)
- Participate in safety meetings
- Immediately report safety hazards to appropriate management
- Proactively look for safety improvements & bring to the attention of supervisors & / or the corporate standards manager

High School Diploma or GED

Previous forklift operator experience or ability to be trained & certified
Ability to be trained in, & demonstrate comprehension in material grading
Ability to become knowledgeable of all products
- Reading and writing skills for the completion of daily reports
- Ability to be trained in & demonstrate comprehension of startup, operation & shut down of auto-bagger machine, oven, stacker, wrapping table & the operation of the stretch film machine
- Ability to be trained in the duties, requirements & safety precautions associated with confined spaces
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Must meet physical requirements to work in confined spaces as required by OSHA
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must meet physical requirements to safely operate a forklift as required by OSHA.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs
- Must be able to work standing, stooping, bending, & in squatting position
- Visual acuity required to monitor product & equipment
- Manual dexterity required to operate equipment, etc.
- Must have the ability to work in plant / warehouse environment (including high / low temperatures, dust, humidity, etc.)
Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer-sponsored visa work permit, & must pass background check & drug test.
