Physical Therapy Attendant assists in the treatment of patients under the direction of physical therapists. Supports physical therapy care by preparing treatment areas, equipments, and materials. Being a Physical Therapy Attendant may be responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment. Prepares and sanitizes treatment rooms for the patients. Additionally, Physical Therapy Attendant helps maintain the treatment records of the patient. May perform various clerical duties such as greeting patients and scheduling appointments. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Physical Therapy Attendant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Duties:
- Assist physical therapists in providing patient care and treatment
- Set up equipment and prepare treatment areas for therapy sessions
- Clean and maintain therapy equipment and supplies
- Escort patients to and from therapy sessions
- Monitor patients during therapy sessions and report any changes or concerns to the physical therapist/physical therapist assistant
- Assist with supervision of patients in exercise programs
Skills:
- Strong customer service and patient care skills
- Ability to work in a busy out-patient setting
- Understanding of proper body mechanics and techniques for assisting patients with mobility
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-Familiarity with exercises and gym type equipment helpful

The physical therapy aide will work closely with the physical therapy team to provide high-quality care to patients.
