Physician Assistant - Medical assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Medical orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Medical requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice.     Job Summary:

    We are currently seeking a skilled and versatile individual to fill a combined role as a Radiological Technician/Medical Assistant at our Occupational Medicine Clinic for the Newport News Nuclear (N3B) BWXT Los Alamos project. This position is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures and providing general medical assistant support to healthcare providers, ensuring efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Radiological Technician Duties:
      • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, following safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
      • Maintain radiologic equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and compliant with health and safety standards.
      • Prepare patients for radiologic exams, explaining procedures and positioning patients to achieve the best diagnostic outcomes.
      • Process and evaluate images to ensure their quality for diagnostic purposes.
      • Implement radiation protection and safety standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
    • Medical Assistant Duties:
      • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, taking patient histories, and recording vital signs.
      • Prepare patients for exams or treatments and assist with procedures as needed.
      • Manage patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations.
      • Schedule appointments, handle patient communications, and perform administrative tasks to support clinic operations.
      • Provide patients with instructions on medications and general health education under the supervision of healthcare providers.

    Qualifications:

    • Completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology
    • Valid certification as a Radiologic Technician (ARRT)
    • Previous experience in a radiology and medical office setting, with a strong understanding of radiologic procedures and medical assistant duties.
    • Knowledge of radiation safety measures and radiologic equipment maintenance.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
    • Commitment to providing high-quality, empathetic care to patients.
