Physician Assistant - Surgical under the direction of physician, performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing. Completes pre-op tasks including physical examinations and recording health history. Being a Physician Assistant - Surgical orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Additionally, Physician Assistant - Surgical requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Physician Assistant - Surgical's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. About the Facility McLaughlin Health Center and Fort Yates Hospital
The Fort Yates Hospital, located near the Missouri River on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation at Fort Yates, North Dakota is a fully accredited 12-bed hospital staffed by Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. The hospital provides comprehensive primary care based on the Primary Care Medical Home model. The Emergency Department offers 24/7 care and is designated as a Level IV trauma center. Additional services include inpatient care, dental services, behavior health, optometry, nutritional counseling, and telehealth.

Physician Assistant RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to):
Will provide quality patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Ability to utilize the principles of Physician Assistant practice in the care of assigned patients to provide appropriate care.
Ability to formulate a plan and provide treatment to the patient.
The Physician Assistant will have the ability to provide patient care that is abreast of changing concepts and advancements in the profession.
Ability to function autonomously and make independent medical decisions.
Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment for improvement of services for patient care.
Will function as experts in clinical practice and/or in areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities, may serve as mentors for transitioning Physician Assistants, and may provide training for health care students.
Ability to present clinical findings and recommendations to appropriate management officials.
Ability to clinically facilitate the delivery of patient care in collaborating with health professionals, health managers, and other health care personnel.
Ability to implement and initiate clinical changes to established treatment protocols based upon new medical literature research findings to enhance patient delivery care for improved patient outcomes.
Physician Assistant REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited bachelor's or master's program in physician studies.
Current and continuous certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Licensure: Client must possess an active, current, full, and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
