Physician Assistant - Surgical under the direction of physician, performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing. Completes pre-op tasks including physical examinations and recording health history. Being a Physician Assistant - Surgical orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Additionally, Physician Assistant - Surgical requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Physician Assistant - Surgical's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and complete extensive charting.
- Review medical documentation and provide an expert medical opinion in regard to a disability.
- Submit information gathered through an online portal for the VA to review as part of a compensation/pension claim.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- Valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of [LOCATION]
- MUST have 2 years valid NP/PA experience.
- Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the desired specialty area (e.g., Adult-Gerontology)
- Proficiency in medical terminology and documentation/ charting practices.
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to provide comprehensive evaluations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team independently.
- Prior experience in the VA settings is preferred but not required.
