Physician - Cardiology - Non-Invasive jobs in Portland, ME

Southern Maine Invasive Aquatic Management (SMIAM) is seeking two reliable crewmen to join our team for the summer season, from May 20th to early August, with hourly wages ranging from $25 to $28.

With over a decade of experience managing milfoil, SMIAM specializes in freshwater invasive species management, including Variable Leaf Milfoil, Invasive Bladderwort, Invasive Niad, and Curly Leaf Pondweed. This summer, we're contracted to work at least 550 hours, serving Thompson Lake, Shapleigh Pond, Mousam Lake, and Legion Pond.

As part of our crew, you'll assist in removing and managing invasive aquatic growth. Duties include diving in shallow waters using air supplied by a compressor to hand-remove plants, collecting floating fragments, and organizing pulled plant material on our suction harvester boat. We also deploy benthic barriers to inhibit Milfoil colonies' sunlight supply. All wetsuit and dive equipment will be provided.

Requirements for the job include:

• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors for 10 hours a day, 4-5 days a week, rain or shine.
• Comfortable working in and under water depths of 3'-15'.
• Willingness to commute to Oxford, Maine, and Shapleigh, Maine.

Starting pay is $25 an hour, with additional compensation offered for individuals with Milfoil experience. PADI certified divers receive $28 per hour. While PADI certification is beneficial, it's not required by OSHA as we use an air compressor for air supply, not scuba tanks. However, some diving experience is preferred.
