Physician - Dermatology examines and diagnoses disorders and diseases of the human skin. Prescribes and administers patient medications. Being a Physician - Dermatology performs a variety of laboratory procedures, examines sample tissues, and uses various biological and chemical analyses to identify harmful organisms or pathological conditions. Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Additionally, Physician - Dermatology requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Physician - Dermatology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Responsibilities
Essential Functions :
Rooming patients and documents all vital information
Scribing information for the dermatologist
Providing post op wound care to patients
Drawing blood and suture removal
Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
Scheduling patient appointments
Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as :
Surgical photographs
Biopsies punch, DIF and shave
Excisions
Electrodessication and curettage
Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
Phototherapy
Injections
Koh preps
Trichograms
Tzank preps
Dermabrasion
Patch testing
Blue light
Qualifications
Education :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Post High School education in a medical support field :
Medical Assistant, CMA, RMA or CNA is strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
Must possess organizational and communication skills
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
