Position: Emergency Room Nurse 
Location: Saratoga Springs, NY

Job Summary:

The Emergency Room Nurse plays a critical role in delivering immediate and comprehensive patient care in the emergency department. The nurse assesses patients, prioritizes care based on acuity, and provides treatment and support to patients experiencing acute medical conditions or trauma. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment and Care:

  • Quickly and accurately assess patients' medical needs upon arrival.
  • Prioritize patient care based on triage assessments and acuity levels.
  • Provide direct care and administer medications and treatments as needed.

• Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to explain diagnoses, treatments, and care plans.

• Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Document all care provided according to hospital policies and legal requirements.

• Patient Education:

  • Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
  • Provide support and guidance to patients during stressful and emotional situations.

• Emergency Response:

  • Respond quickly to medical emergencies and prioritize care according to the situation.
  • Provide life-saving interventions, including CPR and other advanced life support measures as necessary.

• Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols, infection control measures, and emergency department policies.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines for handling hazardous materials and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
• Licensing and Certification:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (required).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications (required).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (preferred).
• Experience:
  • Previous experience in emergency nursing or critical care (preferred).
