Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Endocrinology requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director.   • JOB DUTIES
     
    ·       Performs comprehensive appraisal of patients 18 years and up. 
    ·       Assists endocrinologist with mostly outpatient follow-up care of patients especially those with diabetes. 
    ·       Assumes clinical responsibility for the following tasks performed within the Physician Assistant scope of practice including 
    • taking patients history, 
    • performing physical examination, 
    • ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, 
    • prescribing appropriate medicine
    • calling patients with results, 
    • refilling medication
    • providing patient education, 
    • as well as assisting in the admission of patients to the hospital. 
    ·       Provides diabetic education. 
    ·       Arranges consultations and referrals for patients with chronic illnesses. 
    ·       Other duties as assigned.
     
    REQUIREMENTS
     
    ·       Registered and certified in TX as an ADULT Physician Assistant.
    ·       Familiarity with EMR System, coding and billing guidelines
    ·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. 
    ·       Good organizational skills. 
    ·       Bilingual (Spanish/ English) preferred. 
    ·       BLS/ACLS provider.
    ·       Diabetic educator desirable.
