Physician - Family Practice examines and treats members of family, regardless of age or sex. Ensures proper injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Being a Physician - Family Practice prescribes and administers medications, performs routine vaccinations, and provides advice regarding personal health and hygiene. Requests necessary tests and follow-up visits and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Additionally, Physician - Family Practice requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Physician - Family Practice's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Curative Executive and Academic Search has partnered with Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) on the national search for an experienced leader in OMM to serve as Discipline Chair for Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
The Department seeks a dynamic leader to provide on-campus teaching in the specialty field of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) and oversee the medical student education by the clinical faculty within the discipline in the core clinical education sites. VCOM is ranked among the top medical schools in the country by US News & World Report for 2023.
Additional Details
- Collaborates with faculty from VCOM's other campuses to annually update the clinical curriculum and exams
- Serves as individual advisor to students regarding OMM, by supporting the student specialty organization monthly, and by assisting those who choose the OMM specialty to obtain a residency
- Supports the College by serving on standing committees and promotion boards
- Participates in the student interview process
- Engages in research and scholarly activity
- Attends the monthly Clinical Chairs Meeting to assess the quality of the clinical education program for VCOM students.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Training and certification: Residency and/or Fellowship completion (in the field of specialty rotation or the core discipline with a concentration of practice in the field rather than fellowship)
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Family Medicine and/or OMM.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Clinical practice experience in OMM (Osteopathic Manipulation Medicine)
- Demonstrated experience with the education of medical students and/or residents in an academic setting
