Journey Center Clubhouse is seeking a qualified candidate for the full-time position of Clubhouse Generalist. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to work in a progressive recovery-oriented setting providing direct support to adults with serious mental illness. The Clubhouse is a non-clinical psychosocial rehabilitation program that offers individuals hope and the chance to move beyond their illness and achieve their full potential. The model is unique in that it is not clinical or illness-centered, and instead focuses on the strengths of each individual and the power of the Clubhouse community. We support Clubhouse members (program participants) to meet their needs for employment, housing, education, friendship, structure, and stability through participation in meaningful work-related activities designed to sharpen skills and build confidence. Staff encourage supportive relationships that help promote hope, choice, wellness, and recovery for participants while working together as colleagues and mentors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Work/interact with people from a variety of backgrounds, including adults with mental illness
• Help members set and achieve personal, career, and wellness goals
• Maintain necessary record and documentation per Carelon Behavioral Health and DPW/OHMSAS standards
• Facilitate groups and individuals to participate in work-ordered day activities such as computer work, gardening, food prep, and vocational supports
• Identify/use community, healthcare, and social service resources that promote member well-being, independence, and personal satisfaction
• Help foster member self-advocacy
• Encourage members to take leadership roles and develop peer-to-peer interaction
• Assist members with employment goals through job development and community-based supports

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Bachelor’s Degree with minimum two years’ experience in human services field preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain focus in an upbeat and dynamic environment with many interruptions and distractions
• Exhibits good judgment and strong problem-solving abilities
• Possess an understanding of and belief in recovery as a holistic, lifelong experience for people living with mental illness
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational abilities are essential
• Maintain high level of energy for 8 hours; frequently requires fine dexterity, standing and sitting
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 15 pounds
• Uses standard office equipment, use standard kitchen equipment, periodically work in different job settings in the community (e.g. retail, food service, etc.) for job development and training at member’s place of employment
• Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to drive and accompany individuals into the community and provide support and assistance
• Prepare and submit paperwork (including service plans, daily progress notes, quarterly updates, etc.) in a consistent and timely manner
• Strong communication and computer skills (familiar with Microsoft Office), is acquainted with social media and enjoys involving others in activities
• Multimedia skills/experience helpful but not required (video production, websites, HTML, new technology, etc.)
• Current Act 31/33/34 Clearance and FBI Criminal Background Check
