Physician - Geriatrics specializes in dealing with illness and other complications due to the aging process in the elderly. Ensures proper injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Being a Physician - Geriatrics treats disorders that arise due to aging such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. Requests necessary tests, follow-up visits and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Additionally, Physician - Geriatrics requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Physician - Geriatrics's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Responsibilities:Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop treatment plans for patients in both inpatient and telehealth settings.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic patient care.
Prescribe medications and monitor treatment efficacy, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
Offer evidence-based therapies, counselling, and psychoeducation to patients to support their mental health and well-being.
Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Texas.
Proven experience in psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
