Physician - Hospitalist examines, diagnoses, and treats hospitalized patients. Manages patients through the continuum of hospital care, seeing patients in the ER and following them into the critical care unit and organizing post-acute care. Being a Physician - Hospitalist orders treatments, tests, and consults with specialty physicians and primary care physician where appropriate. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Hospitalist requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Physician - Hospitalist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. - Schedule 7 on 7 off, Tuesday-Monday cycle
- Hospitalists will cover Med/Surg & ICU, including ventilator co-management with intensivist, RT, and remote support from Duluth
- Total number of physicians in specialty currently: 8 and two NPs
- Fully staffed with 10 hospitalists
- Opportunity to teach and precept medical and PA students, and for future program leadership
- Average inpatient practice volume per day: 12-15 encounters per hospitalist.
- Average daily census on the team: 40-60
- Certified Primary Stroke Center, co-management with stroke neurology, growing cardiovascular program, and top-performing sepsis care
- Hospitalist team runs codes and rapid responses
- No procedures required (general surgery performs central lines)
- Excellent compensation package, paid malpractice insurance, relocation, and benefit package
