Duties

As a Health Scientist, you will:

• Provide leadership in the development, testing, implementation and evaluation of scientific information technology and information systems needs and applicable software systems relating to public health informatics within the area of responsibility.
• Explore alternatives, suggestions, and approaches from internal and external partners, focusing on cloud-based data acquisition, big data, public health registries, communication directories, and public health data and messaging standards.
• Provide direction in designing, coordinating, and maintaining information technology (IT) project goals, objectives, and priorities.
• Gather and evaluate data to develop public health information systems and provide access to shared information.
• Develop and implement scientific policies and procedures on informatics practices and principles.
• Provide leadership in designing, coordinating, and maintaining information technology (IT) project goals, objectives, and priorities within a CIO and/or CDC and in the public health community.

Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ:

• US Citizenship required.
