Physician - Maternal/Fetal Medicine specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of high risk or complicated pregnancies. Examines patients to ensure proper care and provides consultation for complications associated with the pregnancy. Being a Physician - Maternal/Fetal Medicine may assist in maternal transport or prenatal diagnosis through the use of ultrasounds and/or genetic counseling. Delivers babies, determining the method most appropriate to ensure health and safety of both infant and mother. Additionally, Physician - Maternal/Fetal Medicine provides pre- and postnatal care as needed. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Physician - Maternal/Fetal Medicine's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The physician collaborates with external referring physicians to provide continuous care, and assist patients with appropriate treatment and follow up as clinically indicated.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

    LEVEL OF EDUCATION

    Minimum: Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO). Board Certified in the physician's associated specialty.

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Minimum: Physician's unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of California. Must meet all requirements for membership and unrestricted clinical privileges of the CH Medical Staff. DEA and AHA BLS.

    Preferred: Successful completion of specialty fellowship.

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum: Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics. Broad knowledge of common medication, side effects, and contraindications. In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices.

    YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

    Minimum: Proven experience working in clinical practice as a physician.
