Physician - Nuclear Medicine uses radioactive materials to diagnose and treat disease. Monitors quality control of radionuclide preparation, administration and disposition, and ensures that all activities comply with the standards of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Being a Physician - Nuclear Medicine instructs and directs nuclear medicine technologists regarding desired dosages, techniques, positions, and projections. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Nuclear Medicine requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Medical Director, performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of radionuclides for the diagnosis and treatment of disease in humans. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures and/or may be assigned duties as an instructor in areas of specific competence.
Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Performs examinations on patients of various ages from pediatric to geriatric.
