Physician - Nuclear Medicine uses radioactive materials to diagnose and treat disease. Monitors quality control of radionuclide preparation, administration and disposition, and ensures that all activities comply with the standards of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Being a Physician - Nuclear Medicine instructs and directs nuclear medicine technologists regarding desired dosages, techniques, positions, and projections. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Nuclear Medicine requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Under the direction of the Director of Cardiopulmonary, performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures and tasks with limited supervision. Provides assistance in the Cardiopulmonary Department as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
1. Graduation from an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent qualifications.
2. Registered in Nuclear Medicine Technology or must be registry eligible applicants but become registered within one year from date of hire.
3. Must possess a moderate level of analytical ability.
4. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people.
5. Must work with established procedures and methods, but is expected to prioritize assignments, deviate from schedules or alter the sequence of steps as necessary to obtain desired results.
6. Must provide for the physical and emotional well-being of others limiting harm, discomfort, embarrassment and inconvenience.
7. Must consider responsibility for fiscal, public and employee relations allowing only brief delays in service and some unnecessary expenditures.
8. May be required to occasionally plan the work of, assign work to, and instruct other employees.
9. Must occasionally perform moderate work involving distasteful patient care activities and involving exposure to disagreeable odors.
10. Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
11. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
12. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
13. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
14. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
15. Must have the ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
