Physician - Pediatric Cardiology detects and treats heart and blood vessel disease in infants, children, and teenagers. Conducts physical exams, which may include an X-ray, electrocardiogram, Doppler echocardiography, exercise testing, or blood tests. Being a Physician - Pediatric Cardiology detects abnormalities, plans treatment, and refers critical patients to a cardiac surgeon. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Pediatric Cardiology requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Office Based APRN - Pediatric Cardiology

  • SUMMARY: Under indirect supervision and working interdependently with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, provides a broad range of nurse practitioner services following established policies and protocols. Performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. Assists physicians with clinical documentation in the EMR.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Obtains patients’ medical histories and performs physical examinations; documents all findings/information.
    • Orders, reads, and evaluates laboratory reports and radiology studies.
    • Supports physician with EMR documentation for office visits
    • Charts all patient transactions in accordance with policies and procedures; writes orders and records progress notes that will be reviewed and countersigned by supervising physician.
    • Develops plans of care based on patient assessment ensuring appropriate follow-up in accordance with established nurse practitioner protocols.
    • Communicates and works with medical staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high quality medical treatment and patient service.
    • Triages and refers patients for further care based on severity of illness and symptoms.
    • Utilizes written guidelines/protocol for clinical decision making and management.
    • Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to patient/family rights.
    • Applies safety principles as identified by established policy.
    • Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies/practices.
    • Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in patient flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Florida, required OR Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program and licensed by FL medical board.
    • Current BLS certification, PALS certification required.
    • Two to four years related experience or equivalent.
    • Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
    • Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
    • Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline.
    • Strong charting/documentation skills.
    • Commitment to excellence and high standards
