The Divisions of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine at UCSF are seeking visionary physician-scientists to join our faculty. There are three open-rank faculty positions, each supported by an endowed chair, that are being sought through a cluster hire initiative to enhance diversity and foster inclusive excellence in biomedical research across our three major sites- UCSF Health/Mission Bay, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and the San Francisco VA Medical Center. There is an opening for a physician scientist at each site.
The successful candidates will each be expected to establish a dynamic and interactive research program in the field of Pulmonary, Critical Care or Sleep Medicine. The research area can span clinical, translational and basic science. The candidate will have, or seek to develop, a robust portfolio of extramural grant support and will be proposed for membership in the Biomedical Science (BMS) Graduate Program. Depending on their focus of research and best fit with the institutional environment, they will have the opportunity to join the division at either UCSF Health, ZSFG, or the SFVA.
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and a record of scientific achievement. The candidate must also be board eligible/certified in Pulmonary Medicine at minimum, as they will be expected to have modest patient care responsibilities. The location and extent of patient care (ambulatory vs inpatient vs critical care) will depend on the needs of the division and the interests of the applicant.
Faculty appointment will be made at a professorial rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) commensurate with current academic standing. UCSF offers competitive salaries, research set-up funds, and recruitment allowances, and has numerous opportunities for faculty development and further training in mentorship.
