Physician - Radiation Therapy uses radiation to treat patients with cancer. Develops an individual treatment plan based on the patient's medical history, physical examination, review of laboratory tests, X-ray studies, and biopsies. Being a Physician - Radiation Therapy works with medical radiation physicists and dosimetrists to calculate and deliver the exact dose of radiation to the cancer tissue. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Radiation Therapy requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director.   • Responsibilities:
    Summary:
    Diagnose and treat cancer and tumors with radiation therapy.

    Responsibilities:
    Use the scope of knowledge required to provide appropriate medical evaluation of each patient, clinical treatment planning, therapeutic simulation and isodose distribution, treatment delivery and management, and provide follow up care post treatment completion; order and oversee diagnostic testing; prescribe supportive medications; collaborate with the care team to include palliative care, psychology, social work, PT, OT, Speech, dietician, nursing, physics and dosimetry to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Oversee care provided by Advanced Practice Clinicians, as required by provider licensure. Participate in process improvement which drives standard of care across the continuum. Participation in tumor board(s) is required. Act as medical director for this specialty area.
