Physician Recruiter recruits qualified physicians for medical staff and assists and coordinates the development of strategic and comprehensive physician recruitment plans in accordance with the needs and goals of the employer and staff. Performs initial interviews to determine candidate suitability for placement. Being a Physician Recruiter requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Physician Recruiter typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. The Physician Recruiter successfully recruits and on-boards physicians and clinical faculty for the VCU Health System and specifically for MCV Physicians, OSI, CMH and future ventures. This includes, but is not limited to, sourcing; screening; coordinating of interviews; references; pre-background checks; and providing recruitment assistance to department chairs and administrators, VCU and VCUHS leadership in conjunction with the strategic goals and objectives of the Health System and of the School of Medicine.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A

AASPR (Associate with the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters)
Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in physician/healthcare recruitment or executive search firm placement
Computer literacy required with office applications including: MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, Lotus Notes as well as other Internet applications that relate to recruitment
Experience PREFERRED
Previous experience in an academic healthcare setting
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management, Health Care Administration, Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited program, or equivalent combination of education and related experience

Independent action(s) required:
Although this position will report to the Sr. Physician Recruiter, some of their time and effort will be unsupervised.
This individual will function autonomously and must be able to set goals and work schedules, and perform with minimal supervision.

Additional position requirements:
Flexible work hours are required, with potential evening and weekend work, as needed to meet the schedules of candidates visiting VCUHS.
Travel related to recruitment activities is expected.
