Position Summary:
The Director of Foundation Relations in University Advancement, closely partnering with the Office of Research and Economic Development, is responsible for engaging and managing the university's top and aspirational private foundations to maximize investment in the University of Idaho's strategic research and academic priorities. Additionally, the director will partner with the Office of the Provost, the UI Foundation as well as colleges and units across the university to develop strong relationships, strategies and compelling proposals that strategically align the University of Idaho's priorities with private foundation program interests. The director will initiate and conduct personal visits with key foundation contacts and include key university leadership and faculty as appropriate. The director will research grant opportunities, work alongside leadership and key faculty to develop proposals, and provide stewardship reports to demonstrate the impact of private grants. The Director of Foundation Relations will report to the Associate Vice President for Development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years experience in grant writing, fundraising, outside sales or constituent-based outreach.
- Experience planning and implementing projects including managing the development of projects, timelines, assessment and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in:
- Private grant setting including experience in corporate relation fundraising.
- Extensive major gift fundraising.
- Public relations or marketing.
- Program development and proposal writing.
- Organizational, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of development activities, preferably in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability in strategic planning.
- Strong verbal presentation skills.
- Understanding of the corporate contribution process.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and other, such a volunteers, prospective corporate partners and donors.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate multi-faceted conversations among administration and faculty.
