Position Description for
Community Relations Director
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, this highly responsible position:
1. Responsible for the agency’s public relations activities, including press releases, writing articles for publication, serving as the contact person for community resource inquiries, attending community health fairs, serving as contact person for electronic and print media, and other related public relations duties.
2. Acts as editor of agency newsletters. This includes compiling and/or writing articles, acquiring graphics and photographs, editing copy and working with printer throughout the production process.
3. Develops and implements social media brand strategies, campaigns, and plans to build brand/coalition awareness.
4. Oversees day-to-day management of campaigns to ensure brand consistency.
5. Review success of campaigns by providing and analyzing data.
6. Develops strategies to increase traffic and engagement.
7. Create, maintain, and grow new and existing social networks with approximately 5 posts per week, including graphics and video editing.
8. Manage Coalition blog including creating engaging written and visual content.
9. Administrator for the agency website.
10. Develops and compiles materials to be used by staff and volunteers in public speaking engagements and professional meetings.
11. Maintains current files of all public information, referral and social marketing materials relating to maternal and child health available from sources outside the agency (e.g. Florida Department of Health)
12. Develops and maintains a current agency display for use at professional meetings and health fairs.
13. Assists in training and creating an annual plan for improving prenatal and infant screening rates. Acts as liaison between the agency and community health care organizations, OB/Pediatric providers and social service organizations.
14. Assists in grant search and grant writing activities.
15. Responsible for assisting with all agency special events to include planning the annual meeting
and fundraising events
16. Acts as a liaison between organization and 3rd party printing vendors.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing required. Master’s Degree preferred. Knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and others. Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite. Requires reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, good driving record and automobile insurance. This position requires travel throughout Leon and Wakulla Counties.
Compensation: $47,500 – $50,000
