We are seeking a Medical Assistant/Receptionist to work full time (40 hours/week) for a specialty physician’s private practice in an office/clinic setting.

- This position will include a range of administrative tasks such as greeting patients in the clinic, collecting relevant patient information, scheduling appointment times, and triaging incoming calls. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working in a clinic or hospital setting. The candidate must demonstrate compassion for patient needs, have great attention to detail and thrive in a collaborative environment.

What the Medical Assistant/Receptionist Will Be Doing
- Greet and check-in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical records/database, perform all registration functions and collect copays and balances due as appropriate
- Schedule patients via office scheduling policies and make daily calls to confirm appointments with patients for the next day
- Save faxes and distribute them appropriately
- Assist in completing medical records requests received from outside physicians, etc
- Perform outbound patient referrals to other specialists as dictated by the physician
- Assembly of new patient charts, getting new patients’ records and information put together in a timely/efficient manner
- Handle prior authorizations for medications if patients’ insurance requires one to be completed
- Answer and screen in-bound calls, take messages to be given to physician, and provide appropriate information to patients as well as handling outgoing phone calls as appropriate (e.g., appointment confirmations, referral calls, etc.)
- File charts and coordinate lab work/radiology tests/other testing as requested
- Take patients back to exam rooms, document vitals in their physical and electronic chart as well as document patient’s problem/illness/symptoms as dictated by patient
- Enter information into the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system, make sure EMR data is up-to-date and correct
- Other duties as dictated by office needs
Medical Assistant/Receptionist Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting handling patient interactions is preferred
- An exceptional customer service orientation featuring an empathetic, compassionate and professional demeanor with each interaction
- Tenacious problem solver, with demonstrated capacity to embrace complex problems and arrive at effective solutions in a timely manner
- Must be an effective communicator, able to explain our office policies in a concise and personable manner
- Strong written communication skills with success in providing notes, updates, and written communications via computer systems
- Working knowledge of the healthcare industry is strongly preferred
- Excellent computer and data-entry skills with proven ability to navigate multiple computer screens
- Prior knowledge of phlebotomy is a bonus, but not necessary
Job Type: Full-time/40 hours per week (Mon-Fri 8:00AM-5:00PM)
Pay: DOE, negotiable starting from $15
Education requirements: High school diploma/GED
All major holidays off. Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM. Retirement plan/PTO begins one year post employment start date. 50% of insurance premium for an individual employee’s insurance policy eligible for reimbursement.
