General Summary

The Pipefitter is responsible for the lay out, assembly, and maintenance of pipe systems, pipe supports, and related industrial production and processing systems.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern.
• Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM’s Core Values.
• Assembles and secures pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints
• Attaches pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
• Inspects, examines, and tests installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods Determines appropriate measures and materials necessary to complete service orders, and performs pipefitting procedures.
• Lays out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
• Plans pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
• Cuts, threads, and hammers pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
• Measures and marks pipes for cutting and threading. Lays out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.
• Selects pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
• Cuts and bores holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools.
• Modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
• Turns valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches.
• Removes and replaces worn components.
• Prepares cost estimates for clients.
• Installs automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems. 

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Technical school or relevant industry training preferred.
• One (1) or more years of industry related experience preferred.
• Current NCCER certification preferred.
• Travel Requirements: 0% - 25%

Work Conditions 

• Position is based out of a branch or site location.
• Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere
• Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel
• Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes
• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
• Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively
• Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to investigations

• Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells
