Pipeline Maintenance Manager oversees the repair and maintenance of pipelines. Verifies pipeline safety. Being a Pipeline Maintenance Manager schedules repairs and maintenance. Coordinates with other management staff to ensure efficiency in preventative maintenance and new pipeline installation. Additionally, Pipeline Maintenance Manager develops safety procedures for pipeline maintenance and ensures workers are trained and in compliance. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Pipeline Maintenance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Pipeline Maintenance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. - Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Maintenance and Refrigeration operations.
- Completes the labor budget.
- Oversees the Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Oversees maintenance work orders.
- Performs Process Safety Management (Ammonia Refrigeration).
- Oversees the boiler.
- Oversees the facility and the equipment inside and outside.
- Oversees projects.
- Oversees contractors.
- Upholds OHSA codes, IIAR codes, and NEC codes.
- Oversees production downtime.
- Oversees the performance of Maintenance and Refrigeration supervisors and their crews.
- Oversees the pre-op lockout and tagout program.
- Makes sure that facility drawings are updated.
- Looks for improvements to be made in plant utilities.
- Oversees safety programs.
- Performs and oversees training programs.
- Works with and assists in monitoring the purchase of parts and equipment to maintain the facility.
- This is a safety sensitive position.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise hourly employees in Maintenance and Refrigeration. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also, directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to qualify for the company as a pool driver.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software, i.e. AutoCAD; Internet software; Inventory software; Payroll systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.Other Skills and Abilities: A person has to be able to perform the above items and be flexible to changes and adjust to interruptions brought on by unseen problems with equipment, production, sanitation, and personnel. Must be able to read and understand schematics, drawings, mechanical manuals, and code books.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
