    Description
    Can you oversee the janitorial/maintenance needs of our spaces while creating happy faces?

    The Facilities Division is hiring a Maintenance Manager position that provides overall management of the maintenance of buildings, facilites, grounds and/or mechanical systems.

    Job duties includes but are not limited to the following:
    • Supervises/manages daily operations of janitorial services, grounds maintenance and snow removal statewide at Department of Military Affairs facilities.
    • Travels throughout the state to ensure grounds maintenance, janitorial/custodial employees and/or contract employees are performing to acceptable standards in the performance of their duties.
    • Supervises, monitors, approves time and attendance and prepares evaluations of employees.
    • Coordinates repairs of vehicles, grounds keeping equipment, snow removal equipment and other equipment as necessary to perform services of the facilities owned or leased by the Department located throughout the Commonwealth.
    • Works closely with the division property branch to ensure records are properly maintained.
    • Conducts training of state employees and contract employees to ensure the safe operations of equipment and vehicles in compliance with all state workplace safetly guidelines and policies.
    • Works closely with contracting officers and/or other personnel as a technical representative to ensure contracts describe the necessary services needed.
    • Responsible for pest management and vegetation spraying programs.
    • Trains employees on the proper use of equipment and materials necessary to maintain each program.
    • Maintains records of pest management and chemicals used.
    • Regulates the use of chemicals and maintains MSDS sheets for the division.
    • Acts as pest management coordinator for the Department.
    • Coordinates with other branches in inventory of fuel sources and services.
    • When necessary purchases and provides various fuels to division branches and other divisions of the department.
    • Provides moving servicesin the form of manpower and equipment to organizations of the Department as needed.
    • Prepares and tracks work orders and documents time and materials used.
    • Monitors the use of materials, supplies and equipment of the janitorial and grounds maintenance staff.
    • Orders supplies through the property branch as needed.
    Minimum Requirements
    EDUCATION: High school graduate.


    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Seven years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.


    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in industrial arts, horticulture, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, mechanical engineering, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for- year basis.


    Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

    Working Conditions
    Incumbents in this job title may be required to use hand tools and lift items in excess of 20 pounds.
    Probationary Period
    This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
