Duties/Responsibilities:
· Analyze malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains fleet and equipment.
· Operates and inspects vehicles or equipment to diagnose defects.
· Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists, lifts, and hand tools.
· Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
· Replaces defective engines and sub-assemblies, such as transmissions.
· Tests overhauled equipment to ensure they operate efficiently (must be ale to operate all equipment).
· Welds broken parts and structural members.
· May direct workers in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
· Must have basic fabrication skills able to fabricate from drawings and sketches.
· Perform accurate ad detailed record keeping of time and parts used on appropriate forms.
· Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
· Assis the electrical shop in performing duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operation.
· Delivery of trailers, parts, and tools to job sites as needed.
· Able to troubleshoot various mechanical and electrical malfunctions in gasoline and diesel vehicles, and equipment using various hand tools and power tools.
· Assist with ordering components and parts.
· Maintain communication with co-workers and management.
· Plan work procedure using charts, technical manual, diagnostic equipment, and experience.
· Plans and schedules routine maintenance on vehicles
· Realign and adjust brakes, front ends, and repair or replace shock absorbers.
· Replace and adjust headlights and install and repair accessories such as radios heaters mirrors and windshield wipers.
· Works in a cooperative and professional manner
· Conforms to company policy on non-discrimination and harassment.
· General vehicle maintenance and repair including oil changes.
· May require out of town travel occasionally.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships & Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Participates in the hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, performance evaluations, disciplinary action according to company policy.
· Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of material handlers and shop mechanic.
· Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Must have clean driving record and driver license.
· Must be able to pass a drug test.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· At least 5 years of Shop Manager experience preferably in a commercial or industrial environment.
· Proven leadership and management skills
· Proficient with hydraulic or electric hoists, jacks, mechanical or hydraulic presses, drill press, grinders, welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, measuring tools such as micrometers calipers, thickness gauges and pressure/temperature gauges.
