Additional information about the company can be found online at www.bwpipelines.com. We are currently looking for a Technical Specialist/ Sr. Technical Specialist for our Plaquemine, LA office. POSITION DESCRIPTION: To carry out daily operation and maintenance tasks associated with facilities at BLM’s Choctaw Terminal, BSC Compressor Station and Storage Facility. This position will be responsible for environmental, health & safety for natural gas, ethylene, ethane, propylene, propane, VCM, and brine through the pipeline system, compressor station, pump station, dehydration, and terminals located in Port Allen, Plaquemine, and Geismer LA areas. Specific duties will consist of, but are not limited to, valve inspections, inspections of over pressure protection systems, ESD systems, reliability programs, and operational continuous improvement opportunities. This position will be responsible for performing all assigned mechanical and E&I duties as well as preventive maintenance related to terminal operations, compressor station and dehydration facilities. This position will be required to provide shift relief at BLM’s Choctaw Terminal as needed. This position will be responsible for recognition and reporting of abnormal and safety related operating conditions, accident and near miss reporting, as well as emergency response. This position is also responsible for regulatory compliance, operations, maintenance, and repair procedures as associated with DOT 195 and 192 regulations, industry standards, manufacturer, and company guidelines as they relate to facility equipment and appurtenances. This position will be expected to respond to call-outs and be on a call-out rotation related to the pipeline and other area operating facilities. Successful candidate will be required to complete Core Blocks in Safety, Environmental and Company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be required to live within 30 miles of the facility in order to respond to call outs expediently. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record 3 to 5 years of gas pipeline operations and maintenance experience or equivalent petrochemical / oil industry experience. 3 to 5 years of experience working a control room SCADA system Excellent verbal communication skills, problem solving skills and a history of safe work are required. Ability to work outside in hot, cold, muddy, and wet environments and ability to stand for long periods of time and climb stairs and ladders. Ability to utilize a PC and manage a filing system. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet. Ability to operate valve control wheels with a minimum of 50 turns. PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE: 5 (plus) years of gas pipeline and liquid pipeline operations and maintenance experience related to dehydration and processes Understanding of DOT 192 & DOT 195 regulations REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associate Degree ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Boardwalk Pipelines, LP maintains a drug-free workplace and will require pre-employment drug & substance abuse testing before hire.
