Plan Design Specialist works closely with clients to design group health, dental and/or life insurance plans to create an overall benefit package. Works alongside underwriters, but is not an underwriter role. Being a Plan Design Specialist monitors and analyzes cost trends. May handle more complex plan design. Additionally, Plan Design Specialist requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Plan Design Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Summary: The Retirement Plan Processing Specialist is responsible for daily Customer Service Calls. A Processing Specialist evaluates contributions and distribution requests submitted to 90DB (GASB) to determine whether or not the request meets the eligibility standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for daily customer service calls
2. Reviews distribution requests to determine whether or not the request is complete and accurate (INGO). He or she may request additional information such as documentation and/or other material which could be relevant to the request or send a denial letter.
3. Determines whether or not the request is eligible for payment and requests a disbursement payment from the vendor.
4. Responsible for maintaining a track log and updating the database for disbursements.
5. Responsible for any change requests such as address, beneficiary updates etc.
6. Responsible for submitting and maintaining an accurate record of contributions received for remits that are to be applied to the proper vendor.
7. Required to submit remittances according to the IRS guidelines regarding the timeliness of contributions.
8. Knowledge of accounting and data processing, to ensure that they offer an appropriate level of care to customers.
9. Responsible for maintaining a track log and updating the systems and/or database of all common remit contributions.
10. Provide high quality service to clients, agents, vendors and members.
11. Document all call information in benefit management system.
12. May also work directly with customers and vendors such as handling customer complaints etc.
13. Act as a backup to other areas in the retirement department when necessary and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
