JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision and direction of the Electoral Program Manager, the Electoral Organizer is responsible for overseeing grassroots efforts to organize, empower and mobilize supporters in Yellowstone County and surrounding areas in support of the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the external affairs team in implementing advocacy, mobilization efforts, voter engagement, door-to-door canvassing; directs community outreach, field work, voter contact, and activist cultivation.
Responsible for supporter engagement in targeted geographic areas who will become informed on state and federal sexual and reproductive health issues, candidates, and take other actions to further the electoral goals of Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations.
Advocating for Reproductive Health Care
Guides the development of advocacy, voter contact and field programs in target and priority geographic areas, and collaborates with the Electoral Program Manager, Director of External Affairs and staff from national Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations to set goals and accomplish them in furtherance of PPAMT’s mission. Builds capacity, relationships and partnerships to effectively advance state and federal electoral strategy. Develops, guides and coordinates grassroots mobilization efforts, including voter education, engagement and mobilization efforts.
Building Community
Serves as a credible source of local public policy and political knowledge and information. Develops, grows, and maintains influential relationships with supporters, coalition partners, community organizations, business organizations, the general public, the voting public, community members, and other Planned Parenthood staff. Manages existing supporter base by initiating frequent and regular communication with activists via phone, in person and e-organizing efforts. Develops, grows and maintains existing data lists for purposes of movement building and keeps accurate records. Follows statewide and affiliate policies and procedures in regard to supporter list growth and maintenance, voter identification and voter engagement.
Developing Leaders
Achieves robust recruitment goals to create and grow an active supporter and volunteer base. Generates new activists and volunteers through organizing, outreach and special events efforts. Trains volunteers on policies, priority issues, strategies, tactics, and state-specific political processes necessary to advance PPAMT’s mission.
Attends virtual and in-person meetings and trainings as required.
Works evenings and weekends as needed within 40 hour a week schedule.
